“Escaping Mariupol with My Family and My Cat” is a short film by 15-year-old Alona Zahreba, recounting her family’s escape from Mariupol during the 2022 invasion. At its heart is a touching story of resilience and love, as Alona refuses to leave without her missing cat, Peaches. With support from producers Jim Lenz, Noah Berlow, and John Chua, the film captures a personal journey of survival and the emotional strength found in small acts of care.
